Job Vacancy
1. Brief Description: We seek an enthusiastic and extremely motivated individual to work with Afghan children and young people in London Borough of Camden, to support the assessment process and identifying needs and to facilitate greater involvement of Afgan parents in mainstream schools life.
2. Main Tasks required:
1. Work closely with primary and secondary school staff and SIS colleagues to identify and address the needs of Afghani pupils and parents
2. Work with schools to develop Afghani parents’ involvement through organising and facilitating workshops
3. Establish and run out of school hours educational and recreational activities geared to developing pupils’ English language skills and assisting in other areas of need
4. Support schools in the assessment, induction and integration of identified pupils including unaccompanied minors
5. Deliver training for schools and SIS staff to raise awareness and understanding of the issues relating to Afghani families and pupils
6. Attend relevant meetings and to ensure positive communication between staff and parents of Afghani origin
7. Facilitate effective links between Camden schools and Afghani supplementary schools
8. Participate in the project’s evaluation and monitoring programme with schools and SIS officers
9. Translate relevant educational information and to interpret at meetings as requested.
10. Plan and report on work with schools and parents in line with agreed service planning and reporting procedures
11. Develop new services for Afghani children living and studying in Camden.
12. To maintain accurate client records, including updating the computerised database and ensuring full records of work undertaken are maintained for monitoring and evaluation purposes
13. To ensure that equal opportunity issues are addressed in all aspects of service delivery.
14. Attend in-house training organised by AA Paiwand and London Borough of Camden.
Hours: 37 hours per week/ Full time
Salary: £23,500.00 – 24,500.00
